The song says "Always take the weather with you" Well, after last year's wet start I had a heart to heart with Mother Nature requesting that she ought to do the right thing and provide some decent weather for the 2013 Sydney Classic and Antique Truck Show...
Well it was cold to start with, but Saturday set up was fine and cloudy with in excess of 180 trucks at the show. There were more participants in this years Mulgoa Rumble than the previous year. The parking of vehicles was well set out this time with plenty of space around the trucks for people to move around, look at, photograph or talk about of the vehicles.
Sunday was fine and partly cloudy with a chilling breeze that blew right through to the bone. The show was well attended by members of the public, particularly families. The free rides were well utilised. There were some very lucky children who scored "sitting time" in the driver's seat of some of the trucks. The 'ear to ear' grin said it all.
There was entertainment on stage as well as the usual announcements (but no lost children this time), prize draws, auction, the raffle draw and memorial award presentation. The winner of the truckies quilt made by Kaye Brown was S. Luff of Yass. The ticket was sold on the "Haulin' the Hume" weekend.
The winner of the Bill Maddy Memorial Award for the "Most Authentic Truck" was Austin Vella owner of a white Morris Commercial. Paul Maddy, Bill's son presented the award.
