Clarendon Classic Rally - 2013

P1020289It was a beautiful Saturday morning, 14 September, for the beginnng of the 2013 Clarendon Classic. By the time I arrived the showground was filled to capacity and the temperature was starting to soar. I was met by the sound of Marie Warbie's voice echoing around, advising show goers about displays of particular interest and events about to start.

This year was the 50 year Anniversary of Mack, Peterbilt and Volvo Trucks in Australia and there were many examples of each marque on display.
There were approximately 300 vintage and modern trucks, numerous tractors, the usual collection of 'hit 'n miss' stationery engines, several model trucks and a hand full of classy cars. There were two steam traction engines that plied the roadway and kept the dawdling crowd moving along. For the 'kids' and the weary, a tractor pulled a passenger trailer around the showground where you could get on or off at will.  For those in search of a bargain there were several stalls offering various items for sale.
The one display that had all the smaller boys intrigued was the model dragline on top of a pile of dirt. One lucky lad was at the conrols when I walked by and he showed great expertise in his handling of the machine.
As I walked around the show I kept coming across groups of WSHTC members.
